2.1 Delivery areas and charges
J&B Furniture delivers throughout Ireland subject to route availability and any location restrictions stated before purchase. Our current standard nationwide delivery charge is €49 unless a different charge or promotional free-delivery offer is shown for the order. Delivery, assembly, return-collection and any additional call-out charges are separate services and will be shown or agreed before the relevant service is booked.
2.2 Delivery lead times
For goods confirmed as in stock, our usual delivery target is approximately 5–10 working days. For supplier-order, catalogue, made-to-order or bespoke goods, the product page, quotation or sales order will state the applicable expected delivery window (for example, 3–8 weeks, 3–12 weeks, 10–14 weeks or another stated range depending on the manufacturer). By confirming the order, the customer agrees that stated delivery window as the expected contractual delivery period, unless a different period is confirmed in writing. The statutory default 30-day delivery period applies only where no different delivery period has been agreed. A delivery estimate is not a guaranteed arrival date unless J&B Furniture expressly agrees in writing that a date is fixed or essential.
We will contact you when the goods are ready and/or when a delivery route is being scheduled. Delivery ordinarily takes place Monday to Friday, typically between 10:00 and 18:00, unless we agree otherwise. Any time window is an estimate because traffic, weather and earlier deliveries can affect arrival time.
2.3 If delivery is delayed
If a material supplier, manufacturing or transport delay occurs, we will provide updated information when reasonably available. Where the agreed delivery window cannot be met, we may ask you to agree a reasonable revised period. Your statutory delivery rights remain unaffected: where we fail to deliver within an agreed period and, where required by law, also fail to deliver within an appropriate additional period given by you, you may have a right to terminate the contract. Different rules can apply where an expressly agreed delivery date was essential.
2.4 Customer access responsibility
Before ordering, please measure the furniture and the full access route, including external paths, gates, entrances, doors, hallways, lifts, staircases, turns, landings and the final room. Consider ceiling height, banisters, radiators and other obstructions. For modular products, consider the dimensions of the largest individual section.
If you supplied measurements or access information, you are responsible for their accuracy unless J&B Furniture expressly agreed to carry out a measurement/access assessment. If the goods are as ordered but cannot be delivered because access is insufficient, this is not by itself a product fault. Reasonable return, storage, redelivery or additional labour costs may apply where those costs were disclosed/agreed and are attributable to the failed access.
2.5 Safe access and working conditions
You must provide safe and reasonably clear access to the delivery/assembly area. Please move fragile objects, pictures, lamps, furniture and other obstacles from the route and provide enough working space for assembly. Our team may refuse or stop delivery/assembly where, in their reasonable assessment, proceeding would create a material health and safety risk, risk serious property damage, or require work outside the agreed service.
Delivery staff may need to wear appropriate safety footwear. If you wish to protect flooring, please use suitable protective covering that does not create a slip or trip hazard.
2.6 Stairs, lifts and difficult access
Tell us before delivery about stairs, restricted lifts, narrow entries, long carries, parking restrictions or other unusual access conditions. Where additional labour, equipment or a return visit becomes reasonably necessary because material access information was not provided, we may charge the reasonable additional cost if permitted by law and agreed/disclosed as appropriate.
2.7 Failed or refused delivery
If we attend an agreed delivery and cannot complete it because no authorised person is available, the delivery address or material access information supplied by the customer is incorrect/incomplete, the access route is unsafe or obstructed, or the goods as ordered cannot reasonably pass through the access route, we may return the goods to our warehouse and arrange a new delivery. A new delivery/call-out charge may apply at the then-current published rate, together with any reasonable additional labour cost that was caused by the failed access. No such charge will be imposed where the failed delivery was caused by J&B Furniture or where charging would conflict with statutory rights.
2.8 Assembly service
Where assembly is purchased or included, we will assemble the furniture in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and the agreed scope. Assembly does not include electrical, plumbing, structural building work, removal of fixed fixtures or other specialist work unless expressly agreed in writing.
If assembly was not purchased or agreed for the original delivery and the customer later asks J&B Furniture to return to assemble the furniture, this is a new service visit. The applicable assembly fee will be charged together with the current delivery/call-out charge for the additional journey, unless J&B Furniture agrees otherwise. This applies, for example, where a customer initially chooses self-assembly and later requests our team to travel to the property to complete assembly. The charge is for the additional service and travel requested by the customer and is not a charge for exercising a statutory remedy.
Products that require secure wall fixing or anchoring can only be installed where the surface and working area appear suitable and safe. If our team reasonably believes the wall, floor, concealed services, fixings or surrounding area are unsuitable, we may pause or refuse installation until the issue is made safe. This does not exclude liability for work we undertake negligently.
2.9 Packaging
Where assembly is carried out by our team, packaging may be removed as part of the service if this is included or agreed. If you may need packaging for a non-statutory return, storage or a move, tell the team before it is discarded. Statutory cancellation rights are not conditional on retaining original packaging, although you must take reasonable care of goods and may be responsible for diminished value caused by handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect them.
2.10 Storage of customer goods
Once we notify you that your goods are available for delivery or collection, we can normally hold fully paid goods free of charge for up to four weeks, subject to warehouse capacity and unless another written arrangement is agreed. If you do not accept a reasonably offered delivery date or collect the goods within that free-storage period for reasons not caused by J&B Furniture, a storage charge of €40 per week (or part-week where stated on the order) may then apply. The charge reflects the continuing warehouse space and handling required for customer goods and must have been disclosed as part of your order terms.
Before storage charges begin, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you that the free-storage period is ending and that charges will accrue. Storage charges will not run for a period in which J&B Furniture is itself unable to make the completed order available. If goods remain uncollected or repeatedly undeliverable for an extended period, we may issue a final written request requiring delivery/collection arrangements within a reasonable period and may seek recovery of reasonable storage and related costs. We will not dispose of or resell customer-owned goods except where a lawful right to do so exists and appropriate notice/procedure has been followed.
If goods remain uncollected or undeliverable for an extended period, we will contact you to agree a solution. We will not dispose of, resell or reallocate goods in a way that unlawfully deprives you of ownership or amounts paid. Any action will be taken only after reasonable notice and subject to applicable law.
2.11 Collection
Customer collection may be available from our Limerick warehouse or another collection point notified by us. Please wait until we confirm that your order is ready and arrange a collection time. The person collecting should bring the order details and suitable transport, restraints and protective materials.
If you appoint your own independent carrier, responsibility for transport after the goods are handed to that carrier may differ under consumer law. Please tell us if a third-party carrier is collecting on your behalf.
2.12 Damage during delivery or assembly
We take reasonable care when delivering and assembling furniture. If you believe our team has damaged goods or property, tell us as soon as reasonably possible and provide photographs where available so we can investigate. Nothing in this policy limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
